Overview: This course can be taken in person or online. Product for Startups is an 10 Week, live course with instruction lead by Startup Founder and Product Management thought leader Jonathan G. Blanco. The course focuses on "How to turn an Idea into a Product", diving into each step necessary to launch a successful product. Aspiring Startup Product Leader will learn the principals of Product Management with an emphasis on running product at an Early Stage Startup either as the Founder or Product Lead, learning how to apply Strategy, Planning, and Execution. This course is ideal for those looking to break into Startups, those looking to run Product at an Early Stage company, and for Founders and Early Employees looking to improve their Product skill set. Startup Simulation: The class will be divided into groups each working on a Problem to be solved and turning into a Startup throughout he course. Students can pick from one of our pre-selected Startups or create their own, as long as they can convince at least 3 other students to join the Startup. With your team you will apply what you learn during in-class instruction and build your simulated startup, leading to the creation of a final pitch deck and presentation. Class Structure Each class contains a Guest Speaker, Lecture, and Team Breakout Session to work on your Startup Simulation. Syllabus: Week 1: Introduction, Team Selection, Idea to Product Week 2: Define the Problem and hypothesize on Solution Week 3: User Research, Competitive Analysis, SWOT Week 4: Customer Validation and Interviews Week 5: Deck Construction and Presentation Tactics Week 6: Value Proposition and Product Position Week 8: Revenue Model and Projections Week 9: Pitch Deconstruction and Structure Week 10: Final Presentation Course Details: - 8 Weeks: March 1 - April 19, 2021 - Mondays 6pm-9pm Pacific - Guest Speaker Interviews - Live Instructor-led Lecture - Weekly Homework and Build Pitch Deck While the principals of Product Management are the same for Enterprise as well as Startups, the focus, direction, strategy, and execution is different simply because Startups don't have the same resources or team size as a larger company. Less resources creates a focus on more validation, detailed customer segments, focus on Revenue and Growth, speed to Product Marker Fit, Legal, and of course Fundraising. Product for Startups will touch on all these subjects and how it relates to Product.
